QUIKSILVER Welsh National Surfing Championships 2011

Organisers will look to run the event over the Saturday, Sunday, Monday but may utilise the bank holiday Friday should conditions dictate. The event which showcases Wales best surfing talent in a variety of disciplines and age categories is the biggest surfing event in Wales and thanks once again to Quiksilver, promises to be even better than last year.

Current Open Champion Adam Jenkins will be looking to defend his crown from a rejuvenated and fully fit Lloyd Cole who was unable to defend his title last year due to  injury. The Swansea duo won’t find it easy though as they face an in form and on a hat-trick George Schofield, who recently took both Elusive Welsh Open and Tsunami Cup titles.

In the Women’s Beth Mason is also on hat-trick as she looks to fend off the challenge from local girl Jo Dennison and close friend Gwen Spurlock.

The Quiksilver Welsh Nationals have been blessed over the last few years with excellent conditions and good weather, organisers will be hoping the good luck remains unchanged and that Fresh West serves up some great waves.

With the added bonus of a possible four days of competition available, organisers will be able to make to most of what ever mother nature provides. As always our champions skills and fitness will be tested to the max.

On behalf of the WSF we look forward to seeing you at the event and wish all the very best of luck, entry forms are available through the WSF website and should be received no later than Tuesday 19th April.

Open and Women’s titles head to Swansea………

Swansea’s Lloyd Cole and Beth Mason both took home their respective titles in this year’s QUIKSILVER Welsh Nationals. In the Women’s final Beth Mason lead the way and surfed some critical lefthanders to take the title. In the Open, Lloyd’s surfing had flowed throughout the event and this continued in the final with him nailing two big scores making the Open title his for the 3rd time.

After last year’s amazing weather and waves all at WSF headquarters were bracing themselves this year for a weekend of howling onshore gales and rain. Surely we had cashed in ‘luck’ vouchers last year …. hadn’t we? Maybe not...someone had had a word with somebody somewhere because once again forecasts for both weather and waves looked fantastic …. well, at least for Saturday and Sunday… !

Channel Coast Surf Club of Llantwit Major clinch The Wilkinson Sword Welsh Inter-club Championships 2008

Channel Coast surf club put in a first class performance and came away with this year's Wilkinson Sword Welsh Inter-club title held at Rest Bay, Porthcawl. Llantwit Major's finest held off strong competition from Welsh Coast Surf Club (WCSC) from Porthcawl and Langland Surf Division (LSD) from the Gower.
The event took place for the first in many years with a fun yet highly competitive vibe with the winner taking bragging rights as Wales's Number One Surf Club! Commencing just as the last rain shower of the day passed in a cold on-shore breeze the messy 3ft waves made for a contestable if not ideal platform for the surfers from all clubs to showcase their skills.
